You’ll find no end of acclaim for the fine wines of Domaine de Mourchon. Master of Wine Jancis Robinson puts them “amongst the most interesting 5% of wine made today”. Top US publication Wine Advocate described their Côtes du Rhône-Villages Tradition as “full-bodied, creamy and lush in the mouth, yet it remains lively, energetic and long on the finish", adding "these splendid cuvées are all worth buying by the caseload.”
This is the McKinlay family’s Grande Réserve, crafted by expert winemaker Sébastien Magnouac. He uses only the ripest Grenache and Syrah grapes, from 60-year-old vines so yields are ridiculously low, and ages the wine in finest oak barrels.
Deep purple-ruby, with complex flavours of blackberry, fig, coffee and bitter chocolate, supported by grainy tannins and innate freshness. A sumptuous, now organic, velvety red with dark fruit richness to partner with lamb or a herb-laden casserole. Presented in a stunning magnum, it makes a great centrepiece or gift.
