Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier La Combe de Malleval 2021
Domaine Ogier is one of the very finest estates in the Rhône – “dynamic and elite", said Wine Spectator, and specialists in Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu. The high, old-vine Malleval plot produces a wine with superb ripeness, intensity and mineral poise.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Wine Advocate wrote that Ogier was "unquestionably in the top handful of domaines in the Rhône Valley”. The family once grew apricots, then fortuitously changed to grapes and such was the quality that, until 1982, they sold all their fruit to top estates Guigal and Chapoutier. After two vintages in Stellenbosch and time in Beaune, Stéphane took over from his father in the late 1990s, added 8 hectares to the vineyards (he also owns parcels in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph) and built himself a modern cellar. Terroir is his raison d’être. His old Malleval vines are south-facing at 300 metres altitude, so cool yet sun-blessed. Hence the ripeness and finesse of this white. Oak fermented and lees aged, this is a gem for truffled chicken.
