Flavour Profile
Numero 20 is a splendid Italian red, what we term a 'cleanskin', or in Italy, an Edizione Limitata. It's a top-quality wine with minimal information on the label – part of the deal of getting 5-star Brunello at a great price.
We can't say much. But what we can say is that it comes from a beautiful estate in the renowned Castelnuova Berardenga, in the south of Chianti Classico. The Romans were the first to plant vines at this property, while its buildings date back to 1099.
Today’s owners purchased it in 1984 and, in a very short time, have made its wines some of the region’s most sought after, regularly gaining top scores, including a perfect 100. The estate is 100% organic and solar powered too.
From the deliciously ripe and surprisingly approachable 2020 vintage, this Brunello offers a panoply of redcurrant, blueberry and walnut, with floral notes of rose and violet and polished tannins, finesse and freshness. Open early and decant a few hours before serving or cellar.
