Flavour Profile
Lasanta – Gaelic for warmth and passion – is a smooth, complex single malt from Glenmorangie, crafted under the watchful eye of Dr Bill Lumsden. For more than three decades, he’s explored how different casks shape flavour, and Lasanta is one of his finest achievements.
The original spent 12 years maturing – ten in American bourbon barrels, then two finishing in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. But Dr Bill, never one to settle, saw room for even greater depth. Teaming up with Master Blender Gillian MacDonald, he extended the ageing to 15 years, taking Lasanta “from great to exceptional” (Spirits Business).
As Dr Lumsden explains: “Now aged for 15 years in an enhanced selection of bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, we’ve introduced even more complex and elegant notes, all working together in delicious balance.”
Expect rich layers of raisins and butterscotch, wrapped up in a long, spicy finish.
