Flavour Profile
Fancy the grandeur of Châteauneuf-du-Pape without the price tag? Then Héritage des Princes is the red wine for you.
From the embossed bottle to the richness of the wine within, this is a Rhône red made to impress. It’s made by much-loved Rhône cellar, Celliers des Princes, that’s been a driving-force in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and recently turned 100.
To make this stunning cuvée, winemaker Thierry Ferlay has combined the best qualities of hearty Côtes-du-Rhône and the legendary Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Most of the grapes are grown in Principauté d’Orange, whose vineyards are right next to those of Châteauneuf. And to make this red extra special, Thierry selected a portion of fruit from withing Châteauneuf-du-Pape itself. He then gave this the kind of kid-glove treatment that’s normally reserved for the cellar’s way-more-expensive Châteauneuf-du-Pape releases.
The result is a red with complex aromas of juicy blackcurrants, damson and garrigue, before silky-smooth flavours of blackberries, red berries, wild herbs and liquorice. Supple and easy, yet rich enough to partner your favourite Sunday roast.
