The Wine
Il Marroneto is one of Brunello’s top estates and this is its magnificent single vineyard expression. Its vineyards sit high on the hillside, soaking up the sun and benefitting from cool breezes from the valley below. The estate’s winemaker Alessandro Mori was nicknamed “the Sangiovese whisperer” by Monica Larner of Wine Advocate, for his uncanny knack of drawing out the grape’s purest expression. Decanter’s James Button called the wine “one of the gems of the denomination” and its many scores of 97, 98 and 99 would bear this out. He went on to call it, “a bright and vital Sangiovese of impeccable precision and poise. Its youthful creaminess supports freshly picked blackberry, intense dark cherry and some sotto bosco notes,” Best cellared.

Full-bodied, it shows significant tannins, but it’s velvety, sweet and full of aging potential
