The Story Behind the Bottle
Jim Barry is the James Halliday Australian Winery of the Year 2020. Just one of a huge line up of prizes this cellar has won. The original Jim Barry passed his oenology degree in 1947, just the 17th person to do so at the famous Roseworthy College. He worked in the region, and bought his first vineyard in 1959. It was his drive and community spirit that made Clare Valley a premium wine region and Riesling its finest grape. Jim Barry is today run by the second and third generations. They have some of the finest plots in the Valley, including the 99-point Armagh, Florita and Lodge Hill vineyards. For this knockout red, however, they've sourced the grapes from an outstanding single vineyard in premium Coonawarra. Rare, complex and long.
