The Story Behind the Bottle
Affectionately nicknamed our ‘King of the Big Reds’, Le XV du Président is a southern French red wine hailing from century-old Grenache vines nestled in the rocky foothills of the Pyrenees. The gnarled vines in Roussillon’s remote village of Maury don’t give much – but oh, what flavour. It’s “home to thunderously powerful Grenache,” according to wine expert Andrew Jefford. Behind the bottle is Mark Hoddy, our Buyer and winemaker in southern France, who oversees every step of the winemaking with obsessive detail. The result? A velvet-smooth, bramble-rich red with warming spice and a long, satisfying finish. A customer favourite for nearly 30 years, it’s just the thing for roast lamb, peppered steak or a hearty plate of wild boar sausages.
