Notebook Organic Malbec 2023
Most of the Malbec we drink today comes from Argentina, but this much-loved grape originates from France … Bordeaux and the Loire to be exact. And now these regions are claiming it back!
Notebook Malbec is a delicious, bright, fresh-fruit red from a top family domaine in the rolling hills of the Loire’s Anjou.
It’s a hush-hush parcel, so we can’t reveal its name. We can, however, tell you that a chap named Hubert founded it in 1962 and started experimenting with different grapes. Today his grandson, who has trained at some very smart Bordeaux addresses (Pichon-Longueville and Suduiraut to name two) is carrying the torch.
And he’s turning heads with this Malbec. Lots of bright, crunchy black fruit, with a touch of violets and tobacco. It’s a tasty partner to pork goulash, creamy mushrooms or charcuterie.
