RedHeads Barrel Monkeys Shiraz 2023


Rich, fruity and full of character, Barrel Monkeys Shiraz is made in homage to aspirational cellar hands everywhere.
Every great winemaker starts as a ‘barrel monkey’, dragging hoses and clambering over barrel stacks. At the pioneering RedHeads winery, their true skill can be unleashed on some of the greatest fruit there is to offer.
It was Tony Laithwaite’s genius idea – to bring together some of the hottest winemaking talent in Australia and let them make tiny batches of remarkable wines in their spare time. It started in a shed in the McLaren Vale, equipped ingeniously with others’ old kit and carefully restored. The cellar has since been ‘reborn’ at its very own sustainably run cellars in the Barossa to lend a new creative boost.
Using a top selection of Shiraz from the prized vineyards of McLaren Vale, a region famed for its old vines and intense, flavour-packed reds, this is big, ripe and spicy. Spot on with lamb or a rich herby hotpot.
