The Story Behind the Bottle
With seductive charm, the bright elegance and opulent fruit of the Blue Belle is hard to resist. Sometimes the Belle is pure Chardonnay, but in 2020 and 2021, head honcho Alex T was taken with the beauty of a parcel of Semillon. From one of their grower mates, the grapes had lovely ripeness, intensity and pure lemony zing. Harvested in cooler night time temperatures, the fruit was immediately pressed in the RedHeads cellar to capture maximum flavour and crispness. Fermentation in oak, some in new Hungarian barrels, has lent subtle hints of cinnamon, cloves and vanilla, while lees stirring adds lovely roundness – a perfect balance of fruit and complexity. This bluey beauty is a hit with chicken or salmon with spicy butterbean mash.
