The Story Behind the Bottle
The Ridge Vineyards estate is an icon of Californian fine wine, famed for single-vineyard creations that are often listed among the best in the world. Then back in 2001 they crafted Three Valleys, a special project of their winemaker, bringing together top parcels from the best vineyards for a masterclass blend. Bold Zinfandel makes up most of the wine; old-vine Carignan contributes bright fruit and acidity; Petite Sirah spice, depth of colour and firm tannins. All hand-harvested, fermented on native yeasts, and aged for 12 months in 100% American oak. Expect lush dark fruit layered by baking spice and espresso, with underlying cedar, herbal tones, and hints of dark chocolate. Generous now, but improves over 5-7 years.
