Seifried Gewürztraminer 2023

If you love the crisp cut and aromatics of Marlborough Sauvignon, yet want to branch out, try the delicious Seifried Gewürztraminer. The family estate lies in Nelson, next to Marlborough on the northern tip of South Island. It’s a region renowned for abundant sunshine and is very beautiful too, with snow-capped mountains, lakes, forests and beaches. The founders, Hermann and Agnes Seifried, planted their first vines in 1973, and 1976 saw their first harvest. The children are now involved – Chris as winemaker and Anna heading up the marketing – and their wines win many prizes. Here they use spicy, lychee-scented Gewürz. This is a fresh style, off-dry with lots of juicy, exotic fruit – a winner on its own or with spicy dishes.
