Not so long ago, Austrian wines rarely ventured beyond the country’s borders. Today that’s changing fast, thanks in no small part to one grape – Grüner Veltliner.
The best examples come from Niederösterreich, a picturesque region dotted with historic castles and baroque monasteries. This one is called Sonnenstrahl – or ‘ray of sunshine’ – after its bright, sunny citrus fruit.
A classic ‘GrüVe’ with a gentle twist of white pepper on the finish, Sonnenstrahl comes in a handy half bottle for those times when a glass or two is just right. Enjoy with pork, fish or Asian dishes.
