His family estate based in the high, desert-like hills of Calatayud produces stellar wines that regularly score well over 90, with his renowned Matequemada Garnacha being awarded 98 points and Best Wine of Aragón. He is one of only three Masters of Wine in Spain, gaining his qualification in record time.
Guns of Garnacha comes from Campo do Borja, the high, sun-scarred landscape of which was often used as a filmset for a quasi-Wild West landscape. This juicy red is ablaze with smooth, ripe fruit with a hint of spice. Very appealing and smooth, it’s just the wine for serving with grilled meats, a veggie bake or even meaty fish.
