This is the Reserve edition of the much-loved Waxed Bat. Ask winemaker Opi Sadler why the name and he’ll reminisce about visiting his grandfather as a young boy and exploring the dark cellars. There bats fluttering in the candlelight would both fascinate and terrify him in equal measure! In the Reserve, Opi takes the quality of his legendary Waxed Bat to new heights. Cassis-scented Cabernet and spicy Malbec have been patiently barrel aged for a year to create a silky smooth, rounded wine that retains all the vibrant fruit intensity that makes regular Waxed Bat so popular, with gentle tannins and a long finish. It shows that Argentina’s Cabernet is on a par with its Malbec. Opi suggests serving with roast lamb, steak or spicy tomato pasta.
