The Story Behind the Bottle
Robert Parker in Wine Advocate said: “This is one of my go-to wineries for top values from the Barossa Valley.” Still 100% family owned, the winery's name stems from the partnership of two related clans, Thorn and Clarke. Their first ancestor, William Randell, stepped onto Aussie soil in 1837, aged 13, just 10 months after the colony of Australia had been founded. Leap 160 years and in 1998, the families recognised the exceptional quality of their grapes and decided to invest in a winery. Numerous awards speak volumes for quality. Their Shotfire range pays tribute to the poor worker who set light to the charge in the gold mine, in the hope of revealing treasure! This is an intense blend of Cabernets, Merlot and Malbec, aged in French oak.
