The Story Behind the Bottle
The Dr. Loosen estate has been in the same family for over 200 years and has vines in some of Germany’s best-rated vineyards. Located in far western Germany, the Mosel valley’s steep, south-facing slopes create the perfect conditions for Riesling. Plenty of sun combined with the cool climate allows the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining bright acidity. This medium-dry Riesling is produced with fruit from estate-owned vineyards. Following the traditional methods of Ernst Loosen’s great grandfather, this wine is fermented in 3,000-litre, neutral oak casks and kept on its lees for 12 months. The result is a beautiful fruit-filled Riesling with plenty of citrusy zip and floral notes. Ideal with grilled fish or as a glass on its own.
