Officially classified as a 3ème Cru Classé, Château Palmer is also known as a ‘Super Second’, a Bordeaux estate that approaches the quality of the First Growths. Situated at the heart of Margaux, Château Palmer is regarded as the top property in the appellation. It bears the name of Charles Palmer, a British Army officer who purchased the vineyards in 1814 and spent three decades developing the estate. Its wines typically have a higher proportion of Merlot in the blend than other leading properties on the Left Bank. The 2017 vintage has been lauded by critics, including 95 points from Decanter and 97-98 points from James Suckling. Aromas of black fruit and violets lead to a concentrated, fresh palate with supple tannins. Long finish.
