Recently, sales for South African whites have skyrocketed. That’s partly thanks to this humble Chenin Blanc. Since its debut release in 2012, customers have adored it, making it our most re-ordered Cape Chenin. It’s from an award-winning cellar in Franschhoek. One to pay a visit “if you’re keen to check out authentic Franschhoek flavours”, says Decanter. The name ‘The Huguenot’ pays tribute to this area’s history, also known as the ‘French corner’ after persecuted French Huguenots settled here in 1688. With them they brought traditional French winemaking techniques and planted vines in Franschhoek’s picturesque, lush valley. Now it boasts a reputation as a premium winemaking region. This is a crisp lemony white with ripe tropical fruit.
