Domaine Joseph Voillot is a superb, 6th generation family estate, producing some of this revered appellation's finest wines. Neal Martin of Wine Advocate wrote, they come "highly recommended for those that appreciate classic Volnay". In charge today is Joseph Viollot's son in law, Jean Pierre Charlot. He is a meticulous winemaker, producing "some of the finest and most balanced wines of Volnay and Pommard," said Burgundy expert Michel Bettane. He aims for wines which speak clearly of fruit and terroir, while avoiding layers of showy new oak. Perhaps you could call this old school, but he treasures a style that is true to Volnay and its unique attributes of terroir and grape. The 2017 is a beautiful wine, which will improve with age.
