Domaine Jean Monnier is a seventh generation estate, the wine quality of which is outstanding. Parker described them as "an estate whose wines I recommend with much enthusiasm", yet amazingly the prices remain very reasonable. Founded in 1720, the estate is run today by Jean-Claude and Nicolas Monnier. The limestone soils and old vines of the estate yield a definitive style of Meursault – rich, generous and ripe with a lean, minerally streak of acidity. A classic structure, with hidden depths. Using all hand-harvested grapes from this beautiful vintage, the 2017 was first fermented, then aged 15 months in barrel to produce a wine of great complexity and finesse. It will cellar magnificently. Serve with fine white meat or fish dishes.
