The Story Behind the Bottle
We are excited to work with Villa Poggio Salvi for this terrific Chianti Colli Senesi, a new addition to our Averys Label range. The winemaker today is Luca Berlingardi, whose grandfather purchased the estate back in 1979 and named it Poggio Salvi, meaning “healthy hill”. The country estate lies near the beautiful town of Siena, on the south side of Montalcino, and is the prime location for the region’s most famed grape, Sangiovese. Using handpicked grapes, Luca has crafted a blend of Sangiovese and a small amount of Merlot to make a rich, supple Chianti with a delicious harmony of tannins. It is ready to drink now and will make a superb wine pairing with Pappardelle al Ragù or Florentine steak. Or cellar and enjoy over the next few years.
