The Story Behind the Bottle
The 2012 Averys Fine Claret proved extremely popular, so we headed back to Bordeaux to select the new vintage. After a rigorous tasting process, we decided to jump forward to 2015 instead of simply moving on a year, like normal. 2015 was a standout vintage – such intense ripe fruit, yet still with firm, classic structure. All the hand-picked, old vine fruit comes from the Roche family at their estate close to the city of Bordeaux. Barrel-aged for 12 months, it combines the lush, ripe fruit of this exceptional vintage with cedary, fine oak. With a core of dark berries and plum with savoury earthy complexity, it makes superb drinking now. A grand choice with roast and grilled meats, a warming casserole or a vegetarian moussaka.
