Just outside the medieval walls of Saint-Emilion town, this Premier Grand Cru Classé is a jewel of the appellation. Standards were lifted in the hands of the Lurton family last century and now, under the direction of the Cuveliers, its wines have risen even higher. Consultants are Stéphane Derenoncourt and Jean-Claude Berrouet (of Pétrus fame) and they ensure nothing but the finest quality. That includes a growing use of biodynamic and organic methods. This 2022 has received a plethora of high scores and praise: "another terrific wine from this 19-hectare vineyard" wrote Wine Advocate, 95-96pts, "Wow. So long and refined with great clarity" (James Suckling, 97-98pts). Aged in up to 70% new oak, this lavish Right Bank claret is a keeper.
