Jeb Dunnuck says this 2022 has “another level of class, elegance, and purity, with sensational aromatics”, while Wine Advocate describes it as “one of the Médoc’s most powerful wines this year”. A terrific Saint-Julien – muscular, ripe, balanced.

Over its 300-year history, six families have carefully nurtured Château Ducru-Beaucaillou into the highly reputed Second Growth property it is today. The Borie family are the current owners and have invested in the vineyards and modernised the winery. The wine is now seen by many as the quintessential expression of the Saint-Julien style. The château is named partly after its 'beautiful pebbles' ('beaux cailloux', in French) which line the vineyards. These quartz pebbles were deposited by the Garonne River some two million years ago and contribute to the excellent quality of the wines. The 2022 is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot, carefully aged in 100% new French oak barrels for 18 months. Will cellar beautifully.
