This understated beauty showcases just how glorious claret with the perfect balance can be. It shows all the classic Haut-Bailly signature charm in a red that James Suckling states has having “incredible complexity”. 2022 was a vintage with remarkably hot and dry conditions – so much so that the Pessac-Léognan appellation was even permitted to irrigate. But in spite of the vintage conditions, as noted by Antonio Galloni, the wines “are suffused with freshness. They immediately tempt you back to the glass for another sip”. This superb red expresses ripe dark fruits and dried flower nuances. It is “perfumed, alive and expressive” (Georgina Hindle, Decanter). A further 3-4 years in bottle will repay your patience. Very fine Pessac-Léognan.
