The Story Behind the Bottle
Pauillac is home to some of Bordeaux’s finest reds – including three of the five legendary First Growths. The Cru Classé estate Château Batailley dates back to the 15th century and has always been a reliable performer – but in the last fifteen years or so it has really begun to shine. This is partly due to the introduction of a second wine – Lions de Batailley – made with grapes from younger vines. This means only the ripest and most intense fruit goes into the top wine. Jane Anson of Decanter.com rated the 2022 an outstanding 97 points, commenting: “A gorgeous Batailley. On brand Pauillac, as it so often is.” Presented here in magnum format, this superb claret will cellar beautifully for many years to come.
