Château Canon 2022

Saint-Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe AOC

This 99-100pt Saint-Émilion is from a property set among the Right Bank’s top names. Indeed, Château Canon has been causing quite a stir itself with superb quality. Suckling called this 2022 “electric”, while WA wrote, “2022 Canon is a magical wine”.

Awarding Château Canon 2022 99-100 points, Wine Advocate declared that the estate "is delivering its greatest run of vintages since the superb Post War series" and called the 2022 "ineffably complete". Suckling was almost equally effusive. This 1er Grand Cru Classé estate lies surrounded by some of Saint-Émilion’s top names, including Bel Air, Clos Fourtet and Beauséjour. It has enjoyed huge investment recently, yet prices have not risen to match, making Château Canon a very smart buy. The 2022 is obviously one of its very best, "a magical wine that will be worth every effort to track down" (WA). Cassis, plum and spice aromas, leading to dark berries, cherries, bay leaf and spice, wrapped in plush tannins with a sleek texture. Exceptional.

"Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with huge levels of concentration, vibrant" William Kelley
