You don’t often see Bordeaux’s inky Petit Verdot blended with spicy rich Shiraz. But here in Oz, there are no rules so winemakers are free to blend as they see fit. Petit Verdot is used in small amounts in Bordeaux, due to its generous tannins. In Australia's heat, however, those tannins are tamed and it brings pepper notes and dense fruit to the party. Add in Shiraz's characteristic bramble fruit with a rich helping of smoky spice and the result is this tasty red. It's from a 60 year old winery that's family run from top to toe. With the largest plantings of PV in Oz, they are specialist with the grape and use small, top quality, cool climate parcels to make 5 star wines. Enjoy this with grilled meats, veggie stews or at a barbecue.
