Château Montrose may be the youngest Cru Classé of Saint-Estèphe, created from land bordering Château Calon-Ségur at the start of the 19th century, but it's one of its top stars. With beautifully situated vineyards and pristine cellars, it is a modest château, with views over the Gironde. This, their second wine, is made from the grapes of the château’s younger vines, the fruit of which is excellent, but may lack a little of the intensity of the older plots. James Suckling awarded La Dame an impressive 94-95 points, describing it as having "wonderful freshness and brightness", "full and layered with round tannins and a fresh and vivid finish". "A second wine that would embarrass numerous classified growths" concluded RobertParker.com.
