The Story Behind the Bottle
Casa Silva was founded by Emilio Bouchon who arrived in Chile from Bordeaux in 1892. Today, it is run by Mario Pablo Silva, who has taken the estate to the upper echelons of Chilean wine. The estate has pioneered new regions in Chile and has been at the forefront of research into Chilean viticulture, and you can taste that expertise and enthusiasm in this Casa Silva 2018. A small proportion of the Chardonnay is aged in oak to provide a richness of flavour rather than any overt oakiness, while the Semillon adds a tangy zest to the peachy fruits of Chardonnay. The result is a mouthwatering, crisp white, full of tropical and banana fruit flavours, honeyed notes and a good length. Enjoy solo or with roasted chicken or a mushroom goulash.
