Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is one Burgundy’s most prized villages. Its fine whites, which can mature into ravishing opulence, are some of the region’s most sought after. This superb, top-vintage Premier Cru is from Albert Bichot, the wines of which are characterised by elegance and delicate nuance – think prima ballerina grace and precision footwork. It's a first-class plot, the soils of which encompass both heavier clay, renowned for its more opulent fruit, and the more finely chiselled minerality that comes from limestone. Les Charmes is from Bichot’s Domaine du Pavillon. Fermented in 60% new oak barrels, then aged up to 15 months en barrique (25% new), this is an intense and complex white. Open early or cellar.
