This red comes from the prestigious Leogate Estate. Just a decade old, it's one of the smartest wineries in the Hunter Valley and has been awarded five red stars by Oz’s top critic, James Halliday, nine years on the trot. In his words: an “Outstanding winery producing wines of exemplary quality”. No wonder their bottles can reach £60+ and are usually destined for top restaurants in Sydney. But word reached our buyer that a small parcel from high altitude, top spot Central Ranges needed a home – fast. (One of the many wine casualties of the past year.) That’s when Dan came to the rescue. Using the finest Shiraz, aged in best French oak, it bursts with layers of raspberry, peppery spice and complex, earthy tones. An ideal choice with steak.
