Domaine Marcel Deiss is located in Bergheim, a small village nestling in the heart of Alsace. Current winemaker Jean-Michel Deiss was born into a long-established family of wine growers who have been making wine in the region since 1744. “Jean-Michel Deiss is one of the greatest intellectual personalities in Alsace and one of the most influential avant-gardists in viticulture, winemaking and wine marketing.” eRobertParker.com.Under the direction of Jean-Michel Deiss, the reputation of the estate has grown significantly and all their vineyards are grown using organic and biodynamic methodsThis stunning single vineyard field blend comes from the Engelgarten vineyard which is planted with Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot NoirEngelgarten’s renowned gravelly soils make it possible to harvest beautifully ripe grapes that perfectly express the terroir. From the producer: “A great dry, fat and mineral white, with a beautiful, bright bouquet where aromas of pear and cooked orange peel are wrapped in an intense minerality. Sweet notes of ripe white fruits and stringency at the end of palate evolving towards some mineral structure. Tight and long-lasting.”
