Three Golds for the launch vintage of this amazing Aussie wine. It has lots of fans Down Under and in the UK, but don't expect a Barossa heavyweight. It has bright, juicy fresh and elegant red fruits. Light on its feet, it's rare and delicious.

The Wine Advocate magazine is crazy about RedHeads. “Must be tasted to be believed”, “genius”. The cellar was born in 2003 when Tony Laithwaite and a group of visionaries turned an old restaurant into a winery like no other. Their mission: to liberate fine grapes from the ‘big guys’, empower hard working growers and give winemakers complete creative freedom. It’s now world renowned for creating innovative, great tasting wines – like MC1R. The wine takes its name from the gene that determines hair colour and celebrates something that makes us all a little different. It’s a style all of its own: supremely juicy, fruity and dangerously moreish. Serve cool to bring out all those bright berry flavours. Tasty with moussaka or mushroom pasta.

"Violets, raspberries, spicy cherry and dark fruits - lighter than most from RedHeads, pretty" Alex Trescowthick
