Fabulous flagship red of this highly applauded Puglian co-operative. It was created by Angelo Maci in 1989 to save the region’s ancient vines and the growers’ livelihood. This top cask-matured red uses air-dried grapes and is velvety, rich and long.

The Wine
Growing up in rural Puglia with his grandfather, Angelo Maci developed a huge love of the land. He trained as a winemaker, then decided his mission was to save the region's ancient vines and winemaking traditions. Today there are over 1000, and it’s been named ‘Italian Winery of the Year’ five times. Angelo has been named ‘Winemaker of the Year’ twice, and won a Lifetime Achievement award. This is their flagship red, reserved under this special label for Confratelli. It’s a luscious wine – mostly Negroamaro, with a portion air-dried grapes like in a pricy Amarone.
