The Story Behind the Bottle
We are delighted to bring you this unique bubbly from Windsor Great Park, which celebrates the rise of great English wine and the rebirth of vines at Windsor. There was, in fact, a vineyard in the Park in the 1100s, under King Henry II. Nine centuries later, in 2010, Tony Laithwaite discovered a south-facing plot there, sloping down to Great Meadow Pond, with all the attributes for a top-class vineyard – gentle breezes, a mostly moderate climate and good access to the sun. We gained permission to plant 3 hectares of Champagne’s classic varieties and harvested our first grapes in 2013. This is our 7th release, based on the exceptional 2019 vintage, topped up by reserve wines to add toasty complexity to a core of citrus and stone fruit.
