James Halliday says of Yalumba: “It has always been a serious player at the top end of full-bodied Australian reds”. Owned and run by the Hill-Smith family, Yalumba understands the importance of selecting different vineyard sites for different varieties. This Cabernet is from their Menzies Estate vineyard, lying in the heart of Coonawarra on the world-famous terra rossa soils. These vivid red soils are the holy grail for great Cabernet, perfect for exceptional red wines. The unique cigar-shaped strip of terra rossa soil is the namesake for this stunning wine. Matured for 16 months in new and old French oak, the wine has rich black fruits with layers of chocolate, cedar and spice. Savour each sip alongside steak or veggie moussaka.
