A perfect example is Aluado Branco, crafted by José Neiva Correia – one of Portugal’s most talented winemakers. For this wine, José selects the finest parcels from vineyards near the coast. Here, vineyards are moderated by cooling Atlantic breezes, helping grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. The result? Expressive fruit with great levels of freshness and flavour complexity. José blends native varieties – Fernão Pires, Moscatel and Arinto – with a rare-for-Portugal portion of Marsanne. Expect ripe melon and blossom aromas, with apple, pear and citrus flavours. A lovely glass on its own, or served with seafood, chicken and salads.
