The Story Behind the Bottle
Founded in 1985, Artadi is one of Rioja’s finest and most famous bodegas. They pride themselves on being rule-breakers, eschewing Reserva and Gran Reserva labelling in their quest to make exceptional wines. Their Vinos de Gain – a red and white – are from some of their highest vineyards, 450-700 metres altitude in Laguardia and Elvillar, the climate of which lends the wines real elegance and freshness, as well as richness and depth. Pure Viura, fermented slowly in oak casks and lees aged for 24 months, the wine has a lovely creaminess balanced by intense, citrus acidity, with ripe fruit, toasty richness and smoky notes. Ideally decant and serve cellar cool to appreciate all its flavour. A rich chicken pie makes a perfect partner.
