The Story Behind the Bottle
Finca Valpiedra is a superbly situated, single estate owned by the renowned Carlos Martínez Bujanda. The family have been growers in Rioja since 1889 and built a state of the art cellar in 1984. Since then, they've impressed the world with their wines. In the 1990s, they bought the fabulous Finca Valpiedra estate, nestled in a bend of the Ebro river. A special microclimate helps produce wines with exceptional depth and elegance, and just the right balance of fruit and oak. Lauren Rosillo is the talented winemaker behind Averys Crianza. He hand-harvested the Tempranillo, fermented it with wild yeasts and left it to age a year in French oak barrels. The result is a wine with rich, smoky, black-fruit depth and well-spiced oak complexity.
