The Wine
Barón de Barbón is synonymous for many customers with our bestselling Rioja, thoroughly enjoyable from joven to Gran Reserva. However, 15 years ago the Murúa family decided to extend their portfolio to the cool hills of Galicia, northwest Spain. They purchased Bodegas Pazo Cilleiro in Rías Baixas, prized for its great Albariño wines. This historic estate was founded in the 11th century by monks from Bordeaux’s Abbey de Cluny. It lies in the hills of Val do Salnes, the birthplace of Albariño. Moderate temperatures, clear, sunny summer days, a strong influence from Atlantic breezes and granite, clay-rich and quartz soils are ideal for Albariño. The result is this delicious wine, with bright peach fruit and freshness. Ideal with seafood.
