Borgo Thaulero Pecorino 2018
Abruzzo DOC
Loading...

Meet Pecorino, a white grape of Italy's Abruzzo set for stardom. It nearly disappeared all together. Luckily not; it has such lovely ripe apricot fruit and lemony freshness too. Borgo Thaulero adds to that a fresh floral and herbal note. A charmer.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Story Behind the Bottle
The story of Pecorino is a remarkable one. In the 1980s, it was almost extinct. Then a tiny vineyard was discovered by a man named Guido Cocci Grifoni, who was researching the region's local grape varieties. He took some cuttings and just 30 years later it has become the fastest growing white grape variety in Italy. Borgo Thaulero comes from hillside vineyards in the province of Chieti. The climate there is ideal – cooled by the Apennine mountains and the Adriatic sea. The result is a zippy fresh, aromatic white with appetising fruit. Casal Thaulero is from a cellar founded in 1961 by a group of local wine growers. Pure and unoaked, it has exotic fruit, white flower and wild herb aromas. Equally moreish solo or with pasta dishes or chicken.
