The Story Behind the Bottle

This top-drawer South African red is named after Nicolas de Lanoy, who established the Boschendal estate in 1685. Nestled between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, it racks up medals, trophies and top scores year after year.

Thanks to careful restoration over the past decade, the estate is on top form – producing some of its best-ever wines. Nature benefits too, as the restoration included a focus on conservation – safeguarding the flora and fauna of this beautiful region.

For this wine, the winemaker has cherry-picked the finest grapes from Stellenbosch: Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot and Malbec. It's barrel-aged for 14 months, with 30% in new oak.

The result? A gorgeously rich, ripe and velvety red with proper weight. And even more impressive in magnum format. Just the thing for hearty dishes – think beef or veggie casserole, lamb shanks or a good wedge of cheese.
