The Story Behind the Bottle
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the oldest estates of the Médoc, its land planted with vines as far back as the 1500s. Awarded 5ème cru classé in the 1855 classification, it far excels this every vintage. Owned by only three families over the centuries, one of them being Lacoste, while Puy is a French term for 'small hill'. The Borie family have owned the property since the 1970s, with François Xavier and his daughter Emeline in charge today. Its vineyards are unusual for lying in a single 90-hectare block, surrounding the château, and are planted on prime deep gravel beds, over limestone. 2021 was a cool, classic vintage and the Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a "A refined, elegant interpretation that does not fall short on intensity" (JS).
