The Wine
This bright, aromatic, pure-fruit Savigny-Lès-Beaune is from a 7th-generation family estate which has been based in this appellation since 1529. Today Jean-Jacques and his wife Agnès are in charge and have been slowly building up their vineyards to 15 hectares, covering top sites from Corton in the north, to Volnay in the south. They are now joined by their sons Vincent and François and make an impressive range of small-batch wines from across Burgundy. Aged in French oak barrels for 15 months, this fine Premier Cru is silky and poised. 2023 was a “challenging but ultimately very successful vintage” (Decanter) producing appealing wines with great charm. Cellar or decant early. A fine match with game birds, chicken or wild mushrooms.
