The Story Behind the Bottle
Richard Rottier purchased a 3ha parcel of 40-80 year old vines back in 2007 and has been building the estate since. Now with just over 10ha and fully converted to organics, he is crafting beautiful wines of purity and depth. Neal Martin waxed lyrical about Richard in a recent review “Rottier makes wonderful, life-enhancing, exuberant Beaujolais that simultaneously express their respective terroirs. There is such joy and purity in these wines that it is easy to overlook the technique and nuance in them”. This lovely 2023 has lifted cherry and violet notes, with spicy tannins rounded by the gentle oak ageing.
