The Spirit

An award-winning expression from one of most recognisable names in American whiskey, Eagle Rare Bourbon reflects the tradition and artistry of the historic Buffalo Trace Distillery.

The story of Buffalo Trace began in 1775 with the founding of Leestown distillery near the Frankfort settlement, on the banks of the Kentucky River. The distillery grew and evolved through the years, surviving wars, floods, fires and even Prohibition. It operated under several names that marked important chapters in its history – O.F.C. Distillery, founded in 1870 by Colonel E.H. Taylor, George T. Stagg Distillery in 1904 and eventually becoming Buffalo Trace Distillery in 1999.

First made in 1989, Eagle Rare quickly became a favourite of bourbon fans thanks to its remarkable depth and balance, achieved by aging in new, charred American oak barrels for a full decade. The result is a whiskey with rich aromas of toffee, honey, orange peel and oaky spice, backed up by candied almond, tobacco and cocoa flavours that linger on the finish. Delicious on its own, over ice or why not try Eagle Rare in a classic Whiskey Sour.
