The Story Behind the Bottle
Alsace is a forgotten wine enclave of eastern France. It lies just over the border from Germany, to whom it has belonged in centuries past, hence the strongly Germanic architecture, place names and cuisine. Today it is firmly French, the country's sunniest and driest region and the only one to specialise in Gewurztraminer. This rich, spicy white is from the special Edouard Leiber vineyard and crafted by Maison Cattin, one of the oldest family wineries in all Alsace. Southeast-facing slopes ensure plenty of pure grape-ripening sunshine, while altitudes up to 350 metres in this mountainous climate lends freshness too. Make a date with Alsace and enjoy this exotically spiced white with a creamy pork casserole, cheeses, curry or on its own.
